Neo-soul rap hero Smino returns to Australia for two exclusive headline shows in Sydney & Melbourne. With his singular lush vocals and bubbly bouncy production, often to the credit of right hand man Monte Booker, the St. Louis native is coming to share his latest offering Luv 4 Rent this March.

Since his landing onto the scene with the indelible blkswn in 2017, Smino has been on the up, emerging out of the 2010s Chicago musical renaissance alongside artists like Saba, Mick Jenkins and Noname. 2018’s NØIR reasserted Smino’s artistry, warm melodic singing and rapping atop light percussive production. Luv 4 Rent is his biggest release yet, a Motown studio album that feels like his most distinct, welcoming collaborators old and new from Ravyn Lenae and Monte Booker to J. Cole and Lil Uzi Vert. Hopping between neo-soul, pop and hip-hop in the way Smino does best, Luv 4 Rent is an ode to love: familial, platonic, romantic, and, most importantly, for the self.

A number of disparate voices in his arsenal, Smino’s live shows are an elevated take on his own music. The full band provides a unique spin, absorbing the more subtle niches of his music and returning them with the heft they deserve. Seductive and elusive, with quick witted lyricism as romantic as they can be humorously chaotic, Smino is truly in a lane of his own.
