Secret Sounds is thrilled to announce that award-winning British singer-songwriter Holly Humberstone will perform her one and only Australian headline show at Sydney’s Metro Theatre this summer. Adding to the excitement, Holly has revealed that her highly anticipated debut album Paint My Bedroom Black is set to drop on Friday 13 October 2023.

From singing at her parent’s piano to being hailed as one of the most exciting alternative pop stars of her generation, Holly Humberstone found success when the world was in lockdown; her distinctive vocals and candid energy on her debut EP Falling Asleep At The Wheel proved a tonic. Striking themes of lost loves, family units, and the deep-set fears of youth intertwine with organic sonic production, all held together by Holly’s ethereal voice. It quickly set alight – she was Ivor Novello-nominated and came runner-up in the BBC Sound of 2021 poll.

When Holly first brought her intimate live shows to global audiences, fans were singing every word of the anthemic track ‘Scarlett’ and proudly displaying their lyric tattoos all the way from LA’s Roxy to London’s Wembley Arena. Her sweeping US tour sold out York’s hallowed Bowery Ballroom not once, but twice!

In 2022, Holly achieved a triumphant milestone, receiving a second Ivor Novello nomination, this time for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, and was honoured with the BRITS Rising Star award, following in the footsteps of Adele and Florence & the Machine. She supported Olivia Rodrigo and girl in red on their North American tours and also played Splendour in the Grass, alongside sold out headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

Holly’s highly anticipated debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black represents her coming-of-age and transient lifestyle she now commands, an aural grasp to find slivers of home wherever she can. This way of life plays into two duelling sides of her personality; the introvert who wants to shut herself off, and the extrovert who follows the prospect of love and lust into the late hours. In 13 tracks, Holly sketches fragmented love notes to faraway friends and her boyfriend. The production unfolds into new sonic architecture – the teenage bedroom door opens into swathes of LA and London night buses, with high-octane pop pressure points, neon electronica, and 80s rock runs.

As summer festival dates kick off, Holly is eager to play her new songs live for Australian fans. She debuted ‘Antichrist’ at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound and now it’s Sydney’s turn. Catch Holly performing tracks from her debut album as she takes the stage at Metro Theatre on Thursday 04 January 2024. This performance will accompany her festival sets at Heaps Good over the festive season.

Holly’s 2022 Australian headline dates sold out well in advance. You know what to do!
