Experience an epic reimagination of Love and Sabotage events across two rooms with 10 of the iconic DJs of the era this June long weekend!

Love was founded by DJ Sugar Ray in January 1990 as the first warehouse rave in Sydney, kicking off a scene that would grow into one of the best in the world outside of the UK. Sydney at the time was awash with British backpackers, many of whom had just experienced the fabled second summer of love in England, with plenty of them arriving via the beach party scenes of Goa in India and Ko Phan Ngan in Thailand, bringing an authentic rave vibe like nowhere else in the world at the time.

Sabotage began almost 5 years later, started by Sugar Ray and Phil Smart, after the rave scene had grown so large and commercial that many of the originators had gone back to the inner-city clubs, and kicked off as a monthly club night at the infamous Club 77 in December 1994. Ray and Phil were already doing a weekly Friday club night called Jus’ Right at 77 at the time, and Sabotage was started as an outlet to showcase tougher, techno sounds.

Things quickly grew from there, and soon Phil and Ray were throwing regular parties for 1500 people at the Metro every long weekend, with Love happening on New Year’s Eve and Easter and Sabotage on the June and October long weekends.

The parties featured some of the world’s biggest names and underground tastemakers across multiple genres, including Richie Hawtin, Derrick May, Eddie Richards, Mr C, DJ Dan and Rennie Pilgrem, alongside live PAs from Infusion and Pocket and regular sets from local DJs like Ken Cloud, Simon Caldwell and dance legend Ajax (RIP).

Join the pioneers of Sydney’s most iconic party series, Love and Sabotage, on Saturday 10th June from 7pm to 3am at Metro Theatre.
