Enigmatic new artist Don West presents his debut single, ‘Money’. Introduced by a sentimental acoustic guitar strum and tender piano notes, Don West’s honeyed and rugged vocals distract from the track’s darker underbelly.

Outwardly innocent and endearing, ‘Money’ tells the tale of a quiet night that took a turn on account of profound escapism. It’s a song of prolonging the present to avoid the future and rationalising one’s decisions in the interest of pure unadulterated passion.

Don West’s debut packs an intriguingly nostalgic punch; his crooning vocals tell an all too familiar story of the dichotomy of our decisions peppered alongside dirty, crunching guitars. In Don’s words, ‘Money is a tip of the hat to the girl I’ll probably never see again, that gave me the most memorable night I struggle to remember.’

On ‘Money’, Don West, who hails from Sydney’s northern beaches, has enlisted Scott Horscroft (Paul Kelly, The Presets, Middle Kids) on production duties. The track was recorded at The Grove Studios on the Central Coast of New South Wales.

Only last month, Don West was introduced to the world as he opened for Lime Cordiale at The Roundhouse – his first live performance – where he hypnotised the crowd and earned raving reviews.

Now, following the release of his debut single, Don is playing his first ever headline show to celebrate.
