Brooklyn-based experimental rockers TV ON THE RADIO are thrilled to announce the band’s only two Australian theatre sideshows in MELBOURNE and SYDNEY.

These much-anticipated appearances will be the bands first Australian shows in almost three years. TV ON THE RADIO are renowned as an exhilarating live band, melding post-punk, soul and elements of psychedelic free jazz to incredible effect. With their new album, Nine Types of Light, released earlier this year, the band are making headlines and wowing fans all over again. Something they’d be used to following the flurry of acclaim they received when their previous release, 2008’s Dear Science was named as best album of the year by Rolling Stone, The Guardian, Spin Magazine, MTV, Pitchfork Media’s readers poll, and The Village Voice Pazz and Jop critic’s poll among others!

In addition to the latest release, you can expect to hear highlights from the remarkable TV ON THE RADIO back catalog. The band has consistently impressed critics and fans alike from their first EP, Young Liars, and self-released18-track handmade CD, OK Calculator – through to their Shortlist Prize-winning Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes and its 2006 follow up Return to Cookie Mountain, which prompted The New York Times to say, ‘More experimental yet catchier, more introspective yet more assertive…‘Return to Cookie Mountain’ is simply one of this year’s best albums.’

If you haven’t yet experienced TV ON THE RADIO live, prepare for a liberating event. The band does not write traditional pop songs – often, they change direction two or three times in one song. Distorted guitars, sauntering and reverberating bass, TV ON THE RADIO tunes are just-barely containing an explosive amount of energy underneath itself – and that tension is nothing less than thrilling. Don’t miss it!
