One of Jamaica’s most distinguished reggae icons best known for his distinctive mellifluous vocals, Horace Andy has established himself as one of reggae’s most enduring statesmen.

Since his first recordings as a teenager on Coxsone Dodd’s groundbreaking label Studio One, Andy’s powerful and politically conscious music and classic Rastafarian message continues to find new audiences with every generation of music fans.

A move to the UK in 1990 pushed Andy into the spotlight when he was invited to lay down some experimental vocals for music pioneers Massive Attack on their first release Blue Lines. The collaboration helped to forge the emerging genre of trip-hop, and introduced Andy to a whole new generation of followers. Most notably through the moody track Angel on Massive Attack’s third album Mezzanine, Andy’s inimitable vocals garnered phenomenal international success, including synchronisation on the Brad Pitt film Snatch. The track has most recently been covered by Tame Impala. The creative relationship between Andy and Massive Attack has continued through five albums, including the 2010 release Heligoland, which they toured earlier this year, playing the Sydney Opera House forecourt in March.

Horace Andy’s live performance is essential for music fans who want to experience the power of one of reggae music’s living legends. A show not to be missed, for one night only in Sydney.
