Paul Dempsey is delighted to announce that he and his band will embark upon their “Burning Leaves” national tour throughout April. This will be Paul’s one and only Australian headline tour for 2010 before relocating to New York City for the remainder of the year.

2009 was a watershed year for Dempsey. With his first solo album “Everything Is True” debuting at # 5 on the ARIA chart and garnering rave reviews across the board, it confirmed him as one of this country’s finest and most original songwriters and musicians.

After playing to sold out houses across the country in both solo and full band mode last year, the forthcoming April tour will take in the largest venues of his solo career thus far, and showcase the excellence of the “Everything Is True” material (plus some Something for Kate favourites) with the backing of a genuinely great band. Joining Paul on stage will be the now familiar faces of the supernaturally talented Mr. Patrick Bourke on bass, the magical Mr. John Hedigan on guitar and keys, and introducing on drums, the truly mystifying Mr. Mike Noga.

Joining this gifted quartet on all dates (except for WA) will be the power niche artist Mr. Dan Kelly in band mode with Dan Kelly’s Dream Band. After craftily avoiding the festival circuit this year to build his industry mystique, he takes this opportunity to hit the road with a new band (featuring members of Ground Components, Augie March plus surprises) and preview new songs of his latest long player due in early 2010, tentatively titled ‘Dan Kelly’s Dream’ (though this does change a lot).

Ahead of the tour, Paul’s new single “Bats” (the striking opening song from “Everything Is True”) will be released through EMI on February 26th, and it is from the first line of this song that the tour takes its name. (“Come rebuild your memory with a small mountain of burning leaves”).

Accompanied by an incredible video from We Buy Your Kids (the Sydney design geniuses responsible for Paul’s album artwork) this stunning animated clip ties together the recurring visual motifs from the splendid “Everything Is True” artwork to glorious effect.

With the list of achievements and accolades surrounding “Everything Is True” enough to make one blush and a live show that truly is a communion between band and audience, this tour promises to be a live highlight of 2010. When contacted for comment, the typically verbose Dempsey had this to say – “Tops. I can’t wait”.
