Sydney-born pop rockers peregrine return home after a second incredible tour of Germany to play a one-off show at the Lair (The Metro Theatre)
Known for their swingin’ brand of rock n’ roll and finely crafted songwriting, peregrine arrived on the scene in Sydney in 2004 with four frenzied chords and a track named fingerpointing.
Two albums later, the band is a staple on Australia’s live circuit and is now starting to enjoy the same affection in Germany.
The band’s latest tour saw them perform in a 700-year old fort in Cologne, as the main act in a street-fair in Berlin and atop a barge on Magdeburg’s Elbe river. It was such an unexpected success, copies of the band’s latest album, Stay Inside and Misbehave is now completely sold out and out of print.
Peregrine will perform the Metro show in their full compliment – with Mat Smith on drums and Mark “Hulk” Holbert on bass, Dave “The Captain” Stabback on Hammond organ and Rhodes piano, the hypnotic leg-twitchin’ Felix Akurangi on the lead gee-tar and songwriter Brett Winterford strumming away up front.
Post the Metro show, the band will bunker down to record a third album.
Playing alongside peregrine at the Metro will be Sydney artist Renny Field.
Field’s last record had the Drum Media saying that “the depth of craft in his writing and skill in his performance is extraordinary”.
Now, after several tours at home and abroad, Field will appear with his full band to preview material from his forthcoming third studio release, The Arena, an offering which promises to be his best to date.
