INTENSE, INTIMATE, ATMOSPHERIC, PROVOCATIVE, SPOOKY, BROODING, CATHARTIC, CONFRONTATIONAL, HYPNOTIC, VOLATILE, ENIGMATIC, MERCURIAL
All these and more have been used to describe Adrian Thaws, aka TRICKY.
Starting his musical career as a member of the Bristol-based rap troupe Wild Bunch, who eventually morphed into Massive Attack, Tricky garnered worldwide attention with the release of his first solo album, Maxinquaye, in 1995 – a stunning debut that defined the trip-hop scene.
Melding a diversity of influences, Tricky has established himself as an artistic revolutionary, regularly plumbing different musical genres and crossing genres from hip-hop, jazz, reggae to pop & Two-tone, twisting it all into surreal Tricky shapes.
His countless collaborations highlight the talents of a man not confined to working in one style, having worked with artists as disparate as Elvis Costello, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bjork, Alison Goldfrapp, PJ Harvey and Nelly Furtado to name a few.
2008 sees the release of Tricky’s 9th studio album ‘Knowle West. Due for release in early July, it will be preceded by the track ‘Council Estate’ in June.
