Chugg Entertainment & XIII Touring are pleased to announce the return of CYHSY to play Laneway Festival and headline shows around Australia.
The tour will kick off in Perth at Metro City. Thereafter CYHSY will be joined by Atlanta, Georgia newcomers MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA.
CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH made quite an impression when they released their eponymous debut a few years back. Hailed as one of the most thrilling and original acts to emerge in years, CYHSY set themselves apart by setting eccentric frontman Alec Ounsworth’s distinctive vocals against music that could only be described as exhilarating. 2007’s follow up Some Loud Thunder cemented the band’s status as pioneers of indie rock.
The band, whose members met at Connecticut College, started out by playing weekly shows at Pianos in Manhattan. They are notable for achieving their initial fame and commercial success via the Internet rather than through a record label. Shortly after the release of their first album, they received attention from numerous MP3 blogs and a favourable review from Pitchfork Media, who gave the band a “Best New Music” commendation. They received praise from Rolling Stone as the ‘Hot New Band’ for 2005. On October 3, 2005, they were signed to Wichita Recordings in the UK.
